Opening a community food bank had always been a vision of Pastor Samuel Chester Sr. In 2015 that dream became a reality with the opening of the Chester Community Food Bank (CCFB) in Roberta, GA.
Roberta is a rural food desert with no access to a grocery store to purchase fresh meat, fruit and vegetables and the Chester Community Food bank plays a vital roll in helping to serve the needy families in the area. The U.S. Census Bureau indicates that Crawford County is below the poverty level, which includes, 39 percent of those under age 18 and 32 percent of those 65 and over. We at CCFB strive to help our community by doing our part to alleviate hunger.
The Chester Community Food Bank is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization administered through a governing Board of Directors comprised of 3-8 members who are dedicated to alleviating hunger, providing emergency food for needy families in our community.
Packages of food will be provided to those that are in need. We also provide extra boxes for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season.
Our caring staff will provide free counseling services to families in need of a listening ear and helping heart.
